Music Scheduling Secret #1
Brian Kelly, operations VP for the Entercom Milwaukee group, reveals one of his favorite MusicMaster scheduling techniques. Rather than manually match his elements to the songs they would sound good with, he has found a way to use sound coding and segue protection to automate the process.

Radio Ink Hispanic Radio Conference in Dallas, TX
MusicMaster’s Jesus Rodriguez and Melanie Ross participated in this year’s Radio Ink Hispanic Radio Conference in Dallas, TX. Although it was a snowy and very icy couple of days that shutdown the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex that did not stop this great conference from continuing as planned. We are the radio industry and radio doesn’t turn off for anything or any storms so with that mindset in place the conference moved forward with a great turnout of Hispanic Radio industry leaders. We must admit it was nice to see that nearly 100% of the participants were MusicMaster users. If you don’t believe us just take a look at the awards that our family won this year.

CRS 2015 Recap
The MusicMaster team enjoyed time with clients and artists at the 46th Annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, TN, in February. Partnering with Wide Orbit and ENCO, Dave Tyler, Jerry Butler, Drew Bennett, Malcolm Sinclair, and Shane Finch shared time with many new friends and swapped stories with numerous MusicMaster customers.
ENCO’s Aaron Johnson and MusicMaster’s Dave Tyler show off the system interface.
What fun these guys have sharing a booth together! (Our automation partners Michael Dalfonzo and Jeff Dempsey of WideOrbit with Jeff Schroeder of MusicMaster.)
Among the country artists visiting the MusicMaster exhibit were Michael Martin Murphey (top), and Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White (bottom), welcomed by MusicMaster’s Shane Finch.
Catch our gang at the upcoming Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference/Lansing, MI in March; Worldwide Radio Summit/Hollywood, CA in April; NAB Show/Las Vegas, NV in April; Canadian Music Week/Toronto, ON in May.
MusicMaster Visits Sirius XM
Kyle Cantrell of Sirius/XM Nashville had a nice reunion with Joe Knapp, CEO/President of MusicMaster. Kyle is still loving MusicMaster after all these 20+ years!

MusicMaster Visits WSM Nashville
The MusicMaster gang visited 650AM WSM “The Legend” at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel while in town for the NRB/CRS (Shane Finch; Melanie Ross; Dean Warfield, WSM; Marianne Burkett; Joe Knapp; and Scott Wirt).

MusicMaster at Cabsat 2015
Visitors of the Cabsat convention in Dubai had several chances to see MusicMaster at our partner booths of AVC, Enco, SMP, and Zenon. Rainer Eichhorn of ON AIR was cycling through the halls to meet existing and new MusicMaster friends at the different stands. The visits resulted in more than 12,000 steps a day, measured by FitBit, and hopefully some weight lost, but very happy to meet so many old and new friends! See y’all next year!
Congratulations, Classic 105.3!
MusicMaster congratulates Classic 105.3, the newest station making Austin, Texas dance. Their extensive playlist will include songs from Blondie, Billy Joel, the Eagles, Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder and Phil Collins. Best wishes to Bob Cole and the entire rockin’ team.

“MusicMaster makes scheduling a cinch with rule alerts. The software helps me notice when I’ve selected a song that fails a rule; I can even customize and activate rule alerts under the tools header.
“MusicMaster seamlessly works hand-in-hand with our automation system. Whether you drop or add a song, MusicMaster instantly recognizes the update and reconciles my music schedule instantly saving precious time previously spent on manual reconciliation.”
Quick Tip: Not Allowed
In your Attribute Rules, you may have noticed the rule “Not Allowed”. It does exactly what you think, preventing the code from playing. You might be asking yourself why would someone have a code that they wouldn’t allow. It’s not as uncommon as you might think. The most common reason is having attribute codes that work well at one time during the day/week but not another. Combined with a Rule Group that is dayparted, adding the “Not Allowed” rule will allow you to have complete control over when your attributes get scheduled.

The Secrets Of The Address Book
“In the radio and music business, a contacts list is never just names and e-mail addresses. Even when radio and music were at their least volatile, any industry person’s address book was a testament to a business in constant flux. Rolodex cards (back when they were rolodex cards) often had contact information scratched out and updated by hand not once, but several times.” (Read more.)
