People from all over Europe met this week for the 20th Lokalrundfunktage in Nuremberg. The main topic of the event was what the future holds for local broadcasters in the new media-environment, and the highlight of the evening was the famous get-together in the historic castle.
Jürgen Kraus (Head of Music Antenne Bayern), Matthias Ihring (Head of Music Radio7) and Justus Fischer (On Air Digital) are seen below at the event having a good time.

Here’s a really handy feature in MusicMaster that can save you a TON of time when you need to change out a particular element in many different clocks. Instead of the chore of searching through your entire Format Clock Maintenance list and finding each instance of the item that needs to be adjusted, you can target that specific element in a database globally with the Clock Mass Changer. The Radio Broadcasters Association of Puerto Rico held it’s annual Radio Show in San Juan June 21-23. MusicMaster’s Spanish Sales and Support Consultant Jesus Rodriguez was there to meet many of our existing clients and answer questions about MusicMaster for Windows. Quick Tip: LogNotes in the InfoBar
Did you know that you can access your LogNotes from the InfoBar? With the release of MusicMaster 5.0, the Clock tab has a LogNotes option. All your Lognotes are visible here. You can drag these into any clock or into the Editor to quickly update both areas.
New in MusicMaster 5.0 – Editing Your Imported Commercials

The first thing clients ask when a new version of MusicMaster is released is “What’s New”? If you merge Spots into MusicMaster and export both Music and Spots together via MusicMaster you will LOVE this new feature! If you import your traffic only for timing purposes, the changes you could make with this new feature will not take effect. (Read more.)

A new feature found in 5.0 is the Song Segue panels. Open the Schedule Editor and activate the Results Bar by clicking on the Toggle Toolbars icon , selecting the Toolbars tab, and checking Results Bar in that list. (Read more.)

Students at the University of Milan in Italy get the chance to be ahead of the curve with training in MusicMaster. Shown here is the impressive setup inside one of the University’s computer labs.
For users of 5.0, the latest service release is now available. Check out the new context menu option in the Schedule Editor called “Select Elements”. This option allows you to select specific types of elements in the log. You can then use any program function on these elements; like unschedule, delete or even the SHIFT-F9 quick replace option. Select Help, Check for Update to get 5.0sr2.

Quick Tip: Enhanced Shift-F9Shift-F9 in the Editor automatically fills the position with the most-rested perfect song or if there isn’t one available, the most rested that song that only violates a breakable rule. With 5.0, we’ve enhanced this feature so you can now click on multiple elements and perform the same thing. This means you could highlight several existing positions or perhaps unscheduled positions and have them filled in just a couple of keystrokes.

Using Mediabase and BDS Radio with MusicMaster

We often work with clients who find themselves tasked with a format launch (or several) in addition to their “regular” programming duties. In years past, it could prove to be a daunting chore to research the “right” songs for the format(s) (and your specific market situation) in addition to sourcing the tracks, and then building the database in your scheduling software. Gone are the days where the poor PD would need to beg and plead with their record reps for the product for this format (many automation vendors can provide you the standard format libraries off the shelf) or sources such as TM Century, iTunes, etc. Not to mention the necessity (as in the “old days”) to sit for hours in a stale production room endlessly dubbing the new music to carts.
